In the opening meditation of his Confessions, Saint Augustine articulates the universal longing of humanity. Every human desire for beauty, truth, and love is ultimately a longing for our Creator. Earthly achievements and transient pleasures leave an aching void; only in the eternal presence of God does the soul find its true home.
